Job Status: Permanent Full Time
Hours: 40 hours over 5 days, including weekend days
Salary: £24,000 +
An opportunity has arisen to join our team at our dedicated Equine Centre at Holme Lacy, Herefordshire. We are looking for an individual who is committed to delivering a high standard of Equine care and riding coaching to help fulfil our clients needs.
Herefordshire RDA is a registered charity delivering equine therapy sessions to over 60 people each week with a variety of additional needs. This includes adults, children and various school groups who attend the Centre. This is an exciting time to join the charity as we have purchased a new site just outside Ross on Wye in the village of Llangrove. We are in the process of raising funds to start building the new Equestrian Centre where we can expand our activities.
Day to day the role would involve direct responsibility for yard management of our horses including exercising, feeding plans, arranging visits from vets, farriers and dentists and full record keeping. We have around 40 keen volunteers on our rota and a key part of this role is to educate and monitor our volunteers who carry out a variety of tasks around the centre.
The role would suit an individual who is interested in education and coaching as we deliver over 50 mounted and unmounted sessions each week. These range from 1-1 sessions, small group sessions for schools or unmounted horse care sessions. A specific qualification is needed to coach in an RDA Centre and full training will be given to achieve this. You will be mentored by our Centre Manager who is an RDA Coach and BHS Senior Coach and lots of opportunities to develop your coaching skills will be given.
Ideally you will have at least a Level 3 Equine qualification or equivalent and at least 2 years of practical experience of managing a yard. You will be expected to coach clients so a BHS Stage 2 Coach or equivalent is desirable although training to achieve the RDA group coach award necessary to teach RDA sessions will be given.
