Planning is under way for this year’s show. Julian Lewis has kindly given permission to again use Chapel Field, with spectator car parking in the meadow below Townsend House (thanks to Chris and Anthea Alexander) and a short cut for pedestrians through Peter and Elaine Stilwell’s paddock from the Venmore Road.
The main arena programme will see Trevor Hill returning with his birds of prey. Meirion Owen and the “Quack Pack” will be making their first appearance at Dilwyn. They are a sheepdog and duck display which are always well received.
Some side shows from last year are returning, but as with the main arena we look to keep the content of the show fresh by introducing new entertainments and stalls. Little Rumba band will be coming back to Dilwyn, but not in 2015. This year’s band is Eureka Jazz.
The Committee welcomes approaches from local special interest voluntary groups, clubs and societies and charities who wish to set up a stall/ have a display. If they bring their own gazebo, we do not usually levy a charge. The committee member to contact is Marion Willcocks.
We design the Show to provide enjoyment and entertainment whatever your age or interests. Last year, our policy of “free entry” into the Show Ground for children meant more attended and that they had more pocket money to spend on rides and ice creams. Towards the end of the Show, Karen was all but overwhelmed with the number of boys and girls wanting to participate in the main arena crazy races and competitions – the response no doubt due to the money from the bank of Mum and Dad having all been spent! Karen will be organising something similar this year. Children will continue to enjoy “free entry” into the Show Ground. The ethos of the Show is and has always been to give all the family “a good day out”. We look forward to proving to you our ability to do this again on May 4th.
