Riley is a 12.3hh Bay Gelding who is on loan to RDA during term time. He was born in 2007. Riley is very versatile and popular with the younger riders.
Dinky is a 12hh piebald gelding with lots of character! He is the youngest RDA pony at the centre, born in 2013. He has received lots of training from the staff to enable him to become an excellent RDA pony which means he is very good at looking after his riders and making sure they have some fun whilst learning how to ride.
HRDA brought Lady in 2017 from another riding centre in Wales, she is a 15hh Skewbald Irish cob, who was born in 2006. Lady is a lovely mare, who you just want to cuddle. Her sweet nature provides riders with a super opportunity to learn and enjoy the experience in the school and also whilst out on hacking.
Tilly was donated to us by the Chase family in 2017, when sadly their sons out grew her. She is a grey, 11.2hh Section A Welsh Pony, born in 2003. She has given a number of riders their first experience of sitting on a pony and she loves cuddles.
Trojan, was kindly bought for HRDA by Hereford Lions Club in 2017. He is a 15.1hh skewbald, who was born in 2010. He is a great weight carrier and quite the character, his favourite thing is to put things in his mouth, especially has lead rope which is not always helpful in lessons when the volunteers are leading him!
Blue is a 14hh cob who has been at the HRDA centre since 2015. He is one of the most popular ponies on the yard (not that we are supposed to have favourites!). He has a brilliant calm temperament and is trained to be mounted via the hoist or mounting area. He is ridden by a large variety of riders from the experienced to those coming for their first time.
Steady Eddie is our mechanical horse and is a key member of our herd and always keeps his stable nice and clean! Our riders are able to mount him by mounting block or by our sling hoist, which enables wheel chair users to mount him. Riders love to have a lesson on Eddie so that they can improve their balance, position, and have the physio benefits of the movement of the horse in a controlled and secure environment. Eddie is able to wear a variety of saddles which mean we can tailor him to suit his riders.
Jelly is owned by HRDA she has been at the centre for over 10 years. Born in 2000 she is a beautiful 15.3hh black Irish cob. She is very kind and like Blue is trained to be mounted via the hoist or mounting area, which enables wheelchair users to ride her. She is calm and therefore gives her riders confidence, she loves to go for a hack down by the river.
What a happy chappie! He is the first to greet everyone and really loves attention. He has been at the HRDA centre since 2012, the local MG Owners Club helped to fund him, hence the name MG. He is a 13.2hh piebald and born in 2007. He is great for introducing children to riding, he is not phased by the loudest of noises.
