Nick Skelton visit.

Events
A big thank you to Hereford Lions club for organising a surprise visit from Nick Skelton on Monday May the 14th 2018. A number of riders and volunteers enjoyed meeting him and being able to ask him various questions about his career, whilst being able to hold his Olympic medals. He watched a couple of lessons that were going on, for adults and children, and was very interested in how our riders benefit physically and mentally from riding. Later he was shown around our stables and met our team of horses, whilst asking many questions about the centre. He very kindly had ago on our mechanical horse for photos and as you can see he kindly posed for this photo and many more.

To celebrate our actual Anniversary we had a hours hack, in which we went for a lovely hack up above Holme Lacy House. It was a very warm day and we came back to enjoy drinks and a beautifull cake, which was made by Sue Griffiths. Through the week we had a number of groups who came to see us. They were able to look around the yard, have a go on our mechanical horse, and sit and watch the lessons that were going on. They enjoyed some drinks and anniversary cake whilst chatting. It had a great effect on one lady who suffers from dementia, as she suddenly started talking about her past with horses, to the surprise of her carers. Some of the people that had a go…

College dressage on 20/11/16

Events
We would like to thank the college for allowing our staff, volunteers and clients to take part in their college dressage competition. This was a great opportunity for our riders to experience competing with in their familiar school, but with outside judges and against other riders. Some of our riders have never had the opportunity to compete before, so they have learnt how to read a dressage test and memorize it. They have also learnt about what preparation is needed prior to the competition, to full fill their full potential. I would like to thank all staff and volunteers for their hard work for turning the horses out so beautifully and for helping our riders in achieving great tests. As you can see from the results sheet, it was a…

Angie says: "Since I started working at the therapeutic centre I have been inspired by the stories of achievement and seen the smiles on the faces of the amazing people who ride our lovely horses and ponies. So many people come together to make it a success and I want to do my bit by running the Half Marathon in Cardiff. This idea was formed late last year and I've had little time to prepare but there's nothing like throwing yourself in the deep end! I'd like to say a big thank you to those who have encouraged me on this journey- for those who know me I'm not the the…
